DNSMASQ issue with "other computers" on network

@cynjut wrote:

Fairly up-to-date FreePBX.

I dropped into one of my sites and found a funny problem. I have the (local) phone server set up as the DHCP server for the network. I’m using the DNSMASQ DHCP server on the PBX to manage the DHCP for the network (more phones than PCs, seemed like a good idea).

So, I did a YUM update over the weekend and the PCs stopped being able to access the Internet. I don’t know if I had changed the server before or if I’d just gotten lucky before, but all of the PCs were getting the PBX as their default gateway instead of the network’s actual default gateway.

I’m going to just assume that DNSMASQ used to use the network’s default gateway as the DHCP Router, but the comments in the current DNSMASQ file say that it actually uses the server’s IP now. This means that DNSMASQ assumes that the DHCP server is the gateway machine.

Rather than modify the dnsmasq config file (which is managed by System Admin) I added the –dhcp-option=3,192.168.x.x option in the dnsmasq.service file, ran the “service updater”, and restarted DNSMASQ.

I’ve submitted a ticket to add the default route option to the DHCP service screen, but this will work as an alternative.

There are, of course, lots of other possible solutions, including starting a DHCP service on another server or using the one that comes with the actual firewall. On this network, I could have stood up ISC DHCP on the CRM server, but I decided to see if I could get DNSMASQ to work. It’s working.

EndPoint Manager support for new Cisco devices?

@Koroteev wrote:

Hi,
we are using commercial EPM an if you are check the list of Cisco devices, they are all outdated. All without TLS 1.2 support, means no use with secure PJSIP in FreePBX with this devices too.
There are no new IP Phones 7811-7861, or 8811-8865.
Is it planed to extend Cisco devices? Or how can I do it manually?

P.S. Yes, I can manually register and configure the new Cisco devices, but this is not comfy, especially if you used to manage all with EPM.

Quesiton about Page Pro

I’ve never had the need to buy this module to date, but now I have a potential client where i will need to mix multicast paging with standard device paging.

The PBX will be hosted externally and there will be multiple remote networks (separate office buildings).
When multicast paging is setup in this module, where is the multicast stream coming from?

Since the PBX is cloud hosted and not on the network, it cannot be the source.

Zulu win desktop client change of default behaviour

Has the Windows Zulu client changed so that it now by default only shows a call popup when the call is answered? I was trying to debug why I wasn’t getting call popups anymore and I had a look in the settings and a new(?) setting was now turned on for show call popup after call answered. It’s kind of linked to this question about the Zulu changelog I guess!

This should be obvious, even though on the phone version contacts is tucked next to the availability.

I can’t find contacts at all on the latest desktop version. Closest I get is if I search only if I know part of the name, but whats the use when you can’t see a BLF?

Something like this?

Queue Reports

@assos40 wrote:

I am using Queue Reports 14.0.7.18.
I had allways an issue with the reports wich is unsolved till now.
On an ‘Answered call Details’ report i have many records with a blank DID field.
I could live with that because i changed the cron job to run every hour.
like this
*/60 * * * * [ -e /var/www/html/admin/modules/qxact_reports/import_queue_data.php ] && php /var/www/html/admin/modules/qxact_reports/import_queue_data.php

That way i had minimized the records with a blank DID field.
With the latest update the records are fetched every 5 min and there is no entry in the
cron job to change the interval.
I tried this
*/60 * * * * /usr/sbin/fwconsole qxactreports --sync
without success.
So,Is there now a wayto change the fetching interval ?

Fax Ring Time

@jasonsansone wrote:

Is there a way to control how long the fax module will ring when dialing out before disconnecting? I can successfully send faxes to some numbers, but on other numbers I consistently receive “The call dropped prematurely”. When I manually call the different fax numbers, the first noticeable distinction is the time it takes for the recipient fax to pick up. When the receiving fax line picks up immediately, my faxes complete successfully. If the recipient fax number has several rings before ever answering the line, my faxes fail with the above referenced error. I wish to test extending the ring count for sending faxes. Can this be done?

PBX Firmware 12.7.6-1910-1.sng7
FreePBX 15.0.16.22
Fax 15.0.18

Zulu UC 3 Works Over WIFI but no Cellular

$

@sholight wrote:

I have a feeling the answer is likely something simple but I’m still confused. I’ve got Zulu UC working quite well on my iPhone but it only seems to work on WiFi connections. The minute I switch over to the cellular network it can no longer reach the server. Our PBX is cloud hosted so I’m never on its LAN so it doesn’t appear that it is a firewall issue. I’m in the US using Verizon Wireless so is it possible that they are port blocking? I’ve tried connecting via VPN on my phone which is how I had been using Bria, but that did help. I assume because at that point I’m tunneled in and can’t use a FQDN.

Has anyone else run into this issue or have any ideas of what might be causing it?

Do I need to do anything besides make sure Zulu is enabled on the FreePBX server for a given user account to get QR code logins to work? I’ve gone into UCP and it’s merrily generated me one, but the second, the same microsecond the phone camera scans the code it instantly knows it’s not right. Logging in by username and password also fails. I’ve tried a config reload but haven’t tried a Zulu restart…will do that now.
EDIT: Restart didn’t help

EPM Firmware Management Documentation Request

Can anyone point me to some documentation for EPM that describes what EPM does to obtain its firmware files?

  • Using Chrome
  • Asterisk 13.9.1 on CentOS7
  • The system hangs on “Firmware downloading and Installing. Please wait.” and after a long period of time, fails.

The documentation I do have is here, but it only describes the basic steps of updating firmware. I’m looking for something more in-depth:
https://wiki.freepbx.org/display/FCM/EPM-Admin+User+Guide#EPM-AdminUserGuide-firmwaremanagementFirmwareManagement

In other firmware related posts, possible solutions have been:

  • Just wait
  • Use Chrome
  • Use the firmware link
  • Create a support ticket

Thanks

Endpoint Manager Not Provisioning Phones

@acjay wrote:

Hello -

I’m trying to use Endpoint Manager to auto provision an S700, but it’s not working.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

  • Defaulted my S700
  • Changed the admin pass from the default (since EPM doesn’t allow a 5 char password, which is the default [admin] for the S700)
  • Updated the Global Settings to use the updated admin pass
  • Used both the Network Scan and manual entering of Extension Mapping to try and update the phone

Using EPM, I am unable to force the phone to check for an updated config. I’m not even able to have EPM reboot the phone. I have verified that the password is correct.

Any ideas?
